From March 19 to April 10 - Admission: free of charge
Collective Fine Arts Workshop, the WPA Women Printmakers of Austin, Texas USA and Argentine writers invited.
The origin of this unique game is uncertain, it seems that initially was used as an instrument of divination and several nations are attributed the invention of it. And while the card games were subject to severe penalties, this exciting game managed to attract more followers and cemented over the centuries, becoming today one of the most popular games in the world. To this point we are reminded of the image of "The Card Players" (1892) by Paul Cezanne or our Tacna painter Francisco Laso "The three races or equality before the law" (nineteenth century), where large and small players are focused on their next move without realize that we observed.

For this reason a group of artists devote due attention and show new and original cards. We will see work of the WPA Women Printmakers of Austin, Texas USA, nine recorders that through its president Angela Hayes, do us the honor of showing the best of your computer. They also participate Telma Castro, Laura and Teresa Lambré Pego, Argentine artists of international renown and enviable enthusiasm and temper, and finally the Fine Arts Workshop is celebrating its tenth anniversary of uninterrupted activity in the dissemination of art and today is crystallized this project started in 2009.

Kami-Robo: The ring made paper

's story Tomohori Yasui, creator of the concept Kami-Robo, just looks like-with reservations - the plot given by the mangaka Naoki Urasawa in his 20th Century Boys . In both cases, the dreams and fantasies of childhood are particularly relevant, however, Yasui transcends the limits of fiction and since 2005 decided to make public their love of battle between robots mounted with wire assemblies, which since childhood had been hiding for fear of ridicule and rejection.

was in the late 1970's, called the last gasps of the Japanese miracle, when his imaginary universe takes shape. Yasui , just a child and inspired by television content in those years earlier fascinated audiences (such as wrestling and anime mecha), choose to create their own characters away from consumerism rooted among their peers, using basic tools as paper and cardboard, wire and pens. Shortly after decides to confront each other and form a whole mythology around them.

The term Kami-Robo is a word made up kami, which in Japanese can mean "paper" or "God" depends on how you write it, and theft, which is a slang adopted the word robot. However, the operator differs from the traditional concept as a machine in the service of humans and claims that each of the pieces he has made over 30 years old have their own life. Remember Shinto philosophy, religion whose basic tenet is to accept that in every expression of nature inhabited by a deity or spirit and, therefore, has an essentially unique and unrepeatable.

Consequently, when starting the fight on the ring the hands of those who manipulate the movements of the Kami-Robo wrestlers are merely incidental, unimportant and they immediately go into the background. This feature comes Bunraku theater , traditional Japanese art with more than 200 years old, where the drama between the puppet becomes so intense that, in effect, the puppets come to life itself.

Fragment specialized series of the BBC, Japanorama, Yasui Tomohori interview .

Beyond "otaku culture?

The text that accompanies the museum mounted the exhibition, open a parenthesis that puts on the table a direct critique to consumerism (according to himself Tomohori Yasui) characterizes the (sub) cultural otaku. It's no secret the relative success of the toy companies warned the direct link between cartoons and manufactured products, however, classify as a simple phenomenon of otaku use the circle seems to me by others wrong.

Clearly the industry has evolved, and the middle of 1980 did not look anything like the current one, is hardly shared similarities between decades. Fortunately, we can turn back and review a nodal point, inter-generational ("false?) Docudrama Gainax: Otaku no Video (1991) , to confirm the above. We perceive nothing practical to limit the otaku universe banal consumer products vacuous (though neither denies). Perhaps the practice of making your own Garage Kits at home, outside the established market, is not it contains the same idea of \u200b\u200bKami-Robo ?, And what I say about make your own cosplay without resorting to specialized shops?

Kami-Robo Max League: Bird Man vs The Ole

Endless possibilities
The meeting between Tomohori Yasui and Katsunori Aoki in 2005 was instrumental in expanding Kami-Robo's World . Aoki , publisher and creative director of Butterfly Stroke Inc., was fascinated by the talent of Yasui, while no doubt self proclaimed evangelist Kami-Robo. He enthusiastically favored the fact that more people now have the opportunity to meet and wonder with a unique collection of more than 400 pieces, which have come since then, various galleries, conventions and museums around the world as A rt & Design Store Exhibition in Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, the Institute of Contemporary Art in London, and the Comic Con # 20 San Diego, USA.

If at first, the assemblies were devoted exclusively to wrestling, recently we rate the Kami-Robo Transmediatic as an expression, which has distributed DVD tournaments, plays, photo montages and renders through motion capture . One thing is clear, this has just begun.

really do not miss this exhibition is unique, which is displayed until 21 March at the University Museum Poplar : Dr. Enrique González Martínez # 10, Colonia Santa María La Ribera, Delegación Cuauhtémoc, City Mexico.

Donde Puedo Encontrar Quadriderm Cream En Usa

The Illusionist (L'Illusionniste) Sylvain Chomet

Paris, 1959. Blinds tents, theaters and stages of light during night bustle, it happens that the level of filament does not correspond to the mind of a skeptical public, unable-or disabled- of wonder with an illusionist who despite years clinging to the art of his craft, once the occasion of reflectors and applause. A rabbit in the hat, which turned into such tissues bouquet or a deck of cards into the air. Nothing. A few fake palm trees, goodbye, thanks for participating.

So begins the second film by Sylvain Chomet , animator and film director in the year 2003 won the international audience with his debut feature The Triplets of Belleville . Heir to the very realistic graphics of the Franco-Belgian comic strip (bande dessinée ) , Chomet seasoned this tradition printed through animation, a process that gives motion pictures and drawings under these objects are not themselves possess. We note then that both the protagonist and the director share a common gift that links from beginning to end: both are in some way, illusionists.

By knowing excluded Tatischeff , the protagonist, choose the natural path of migration, north side with the firm intention of surviving in a world that strives to darken, however, far from improving, their situation worsens . This does not stop, if large cities shun their services somewhere remote and insignificant it may seem, there the show must go on.

Thus up to a modest Scottish people, people who are surprised by 'miracle' of the electric light and pleasure to ride on the fresh grass, fertile land where the show started more than a sincere smile. This is where Alice meets , humble, low profile girl who yearns to go beyond the confining borders. Captivated by the talent of Tatischeff knows his chance of adventure-perhaps the only, has arrived and does not hesitate to use it. What can go wrong in the company of a magician, identical to the fairy tales?

The final stop is Edinburgh, Scotland, a city where our magician, now paired with his accomplice on the run, bet your last letter. Staying in a flophouse inhabited by full-blooded fellow, trapeze artists, clowns, ventriloquists, all like him, suffer from the neglect of public and drown in memories of past glories. The magic soon exhausted and distress grows in the viewer (spoiled by the classics of Walt Disney) to attest that a great solution you choose not to appear on stage. Backstage

The origin of L'Illusionniste goes back to a script French but not published Jacques Tati, recognized as one of the funniest comedians of cinema, especially by two fine films he directs and stars: Fiesta Day, (1949) and Mr Holidays . Hulot (1953), precisely this last character is the one that inspires Tatischeff , and confirms the film to confront them face to face, in a memorable cameo.

Tati The purpose of this script was film a real image next to your daughter, but he was never able to do it. Sylvain Chomet When he was producing his first feature film Sophie went to Tatischeff (daughter of Tati) in order to get permission to include in the Triplets of Belleville excerpts of the tape Fiesta Day. It was then that Sophie Chomet decided that filming the script in animated format, and she did not want any other actor play the role of his father.

The silent nature of Tati mood is also reflected in the direction Chomet prints in his work, since its debut it was clear that the dialogue does not rest on the central pillar narrative, in this case , although there are three languages those competing in the crossing of the unfortunate magician (French, English and Gaelic), no subtitles or written annotation is needed to fully understand the meaning of each scene. In contrast, non-verbal language and music, determine the intent and meaning of each moment.

No more magic?
The premise of the film rather dark, melancholy. However, it is clear that such a conclusion is the result of a semantic error: the illusion is not synonymous with magic. Tatischeff veteran of the trade which is very clear, but Alice , about to leave their children and begin their road to maturity are you aware of it? For a while it does not seem so, the penny trick behind the ear is enough for her, but not dilated to notice that a currency is not much. Such a situation evokes at times the interpretation of Leslie Caron as Lili in the eponymous film Charles Walters (1953).

The exit lurks all the time, keeps the dramatic tension through a question, voracious but sensible: "When will the pious final blow? Tatischeff feels that is very around so she decides to make his last great act, his will, in the person of Alice . Taking into account the work-acid, disenchanted, the Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki , Chomet sticks to the script dark written by Tati and facilitates the final staging, closing any possibility of return to forgotten glory years.

If at first relate to the director with the protagonist in both magicians from their respective offices at the end, we identified more similarities than in the first instance is kept hidden, like the idea of \u200b\u200bputting the art of money or any other good material, dignity and pride for doing what they want despite the adversity.

Jaques Tati suffered the ravages of such circumstances and by the end of his career bankruptcy was their main obstacle in trying to keep filming. For his part, one would think that everything is hunky-dory for Sylvain Chomet quite the contrary, in 2004 founded in Edinmburgo, Django Films, an own animation studio with the hope of opening field in the film world that today exists only because of lack of funding. All indicates that reality is always the same: the art as crime never pay.

Electric Box 26 Ipod Rate My Electric Box Level!?

of Shunji Iwai ARITA

The first decade of XXI century it has been classified as the consecration of Social Networks . Just last year, the world was shaken by the first major cyber warfare, from the hand of Julian Assange Wikileaks site's founder , same that captured the attention of the international political agenda, which to date remains suspense the fate of those involved in the leaking of confidential cables from U.S. embassies in place in most of the planet. In the same vein, although favored by a more friendly image of the technological revolution that has reshaped human societies with Mark Zuckerberg Facebook portrait is emerging as the business of the new century. Chosen as the Person of the Year by Time magazine, the effervescence of the young owner of a fortune estimated at 6.900 million, will strengthen its position at the top once the awards of the American cultural industries to fulfill their mandates to deck tape The Social Network as the best film of 2010, a fact witnessed the night of January 16 in G Gold wolves and potential for replication on 27 February in Oscar 2011.

If we stop to reflect on the whirlwind of events that involve the transformation to a digital world, we must start by asking when did it all start? Not to abandon the unanimous rejection of analog generations flatly refuse to change, (and in fact will not integrate the new paradigm) but with the firm conviction that the audiovisual discourse understanding the generations, pre-digital natives-we consumed during the recent 30 years, once and arguments of science fiction is our reality here and now.

Anime and technology: from Serial Experiments Lain to Summer Wars, the outsiding the trending topic

To start this thoughtful insight from the case of the anime, I pointed in a completely arbitrary since the lapse Serial Experiments Lain (Ryutaro Nakamura, 1998) to Summer Wars (Mamoru Hosoda, 2009). Two emblematic cases in the development environment because we love much to have to face as any other audio-visual format, through its contents, this silent revolution in principle and that today is the talk of the world.

However, this Western fascination for contemporary visual culture neojaponismo Japan, "is not limited to animation, but covers many social, artistic and cultural rights, among which of course the film. That is why before starting with the object of analysis that I drew from the anime, so I open a parenthesis prefaced with a small jewel on which professed a particular admiration. It is, in fact, the short film written and directed ARITA Shunji Iwai, one of the few directors who boarded early (but not hasty) the effects of the raid technology called the Internet would have on individuals and how to transform their social development from it.

must identify this process of change and collapse of paradigm ( The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, Thomas Kuhn ), now established in part to the success of social networks, the dynamics of dialogue and feedback from Web 2.0 and characteristics of cyberpunk real historical facts, had a collective rather than personal roots. Iwai makes clear from the concerns of a girl who finally seeks his early youth pause and examine your life looking back on itself: What is ARITA? Question we also should ask right at the beginning of the second decade of the new century.
